As a licensed realtor, John Romashenko has been the office manager, sales broker, and property manager of Saanich Peninsula Realty Ltd. since 1984. The office is owned by his wife, Catherine (Cathy), who is the sole director, and financial controller. John and Cathy operate Saanich Peninsula Realty Ltd. in Sidney, B.C., and are property managers for more than 50 homes, townhomes, and condominium owners.
John’s real estate career involved marketing single family residences, including condominiums and townhomes. This included marketing single family home subdivisions, condominium projects, and townhome projects. John was an active member of the Victoria Real Estate Board “Commercial Division” which took him in the direction of assembling and selling land for rezoning and development. Since 1985, John has sold and assisted developers with rezoning and obtaining approval for many housing projects throughout the Greater Victoria area. John and Cathy have also personally developed projects for subdivisions, condominiums, apartments, and residential/commercial townhomes.
Between October 1989 and August 1992, John owned a development company, Centurion Developments Ltd., which was contracted to build a 9 unit townhome site, and a 12 unit apartment/condominium. The company also built a family home in the Lochside and Newman subdivision, as well as 13 custom homes between Broadmead, Dean Park, Royal Oak, and Central Saanich.
John and Cathy currently own a 36-acre farm (Little John Farm) in north Saanich and have raised sheep, producing 60 to 75 lambs annually for market to local customers. They also sell more than 2,000 hay bales annually to local horse stables & clients. Their farm provides a 5-meter easement along the westerly property line, in favour of the District of North Saanich, which provides trails for horses, bikes, walkers, and joggers for the general public’s use. They have owned this property since 2000.
